Courses Taken:
SBS 325 Art of the Aztec Empire
MLO3 Reflective Narrative:
3.1
In this class, I learned a great deal about ancient Aztec Culture. It was a first for me to study about, and I found it to be fascinating. It was interesting for me to compare Ancient Japan and Ancient Aztec cultures; to find the cultural aspects that overlapped or were similar for the two countries. Both countries had types of fabric armor, both had warrior caste systems, and both had religions that believed in multiple deities.
3.2
It was interesting to learn that both countries had had similar caste systems in their warrior caste, depending on your rank as a warrior you could be considered high or lowly ranked. It was also very fascinating to learn about the different products and items produced and used in the Aztec Empire. For our final project, each person had to talk about some aspect of the culture, an item made and used by the people, or something else that had been discussed in the class. My project was about the Aztec Armor, and I did a creative experiment in trying to recreate their fabric armor.
